With the Ultimae as the last edition, Lamborghini has modded and tweaked its arguably most influential car of the 21st century to its maximum potential. The Aventador has been dropping jaws and scaring other exotics off since its debut in 2011. Although the iconic LP700-4 was a beast, it still had room for a few more of Lamborghini's magic tricks to be even more desirable, both in terms of its looks and in terms of performance.

Now that we are at the end of Lamborghini's naturally-aspirated V12 era, let's take a look at how the dominant child of the company came to life, evolved, and reached its ultimate form. Here are all the models of the Aventador from its birth until 2021, including all the special editions.

Aventador LP700-4 (2011-2016): After nine years of the Murciélago, Lamborghini finally debuted its next V12 supercar in 2011. Lamborghini's great advertisement, along with the sheer beauty and performance of their new V12 layout, arguably made the Aventador the most anticipated Lamborghini to this day.

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster (2013-2016): How do you make a supercar as badass as the Aventador even more badass? By simply removing the roof! The Roadster gave a spark to the Aventador's driving experience for those who wished to feel the touch of the wind while driving.

Aventador SuperVeloce LP750-4 (2015–2017): the SuperVeloce was the first variant of the Aventador to receive an upgraded powertrain, increasing its horsepower to 740 hp (750 PS). But that's not all; thanks to the usage of carbon fiber in the interior and the exterior, the Aventador SuperVeloce managed to lose 50 kilograms (110 lbs), which further aided its swiftness.

Aventador SuperVeloce LP750-4 Roadster (2016–2017): the Roadster model of the Aventador SuperVeloce was unveiled at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. What made it special was its two-piece carbon-fiber hardtop. Lamborghini started delivering them to the buyers in 201 and only made 500 units of the Roadster version of the Aventador SuperVeloce.

Aventador S LP740-4 (2016-2021): Lamborghini's head of design, Mitija Brokert, made an update on the ongoing LP700-4 model and officially revealed it under the name of the Aventador S at the March 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The powertrain was upgraded to produce 730 horsepower at 8,400 rpm.

Aventador S LP740-4 Roadster (2017-2021): the Roadster variant followed the footsteps of Mitija Brokert's design while bearing two carbon-fiber roof panels that can be removed and stored in the front compartment of the car. The Aventador S Roadster was revealed in 2017. Although it featured the same engine as the coupe model, it was 0.3 seconds slower in terms of 0-100 km/h acceleration.

Aventador SVJ LP770-4 (2018-present): The Aventador SJV (short for Super Veloce Jota) is a track-focused edition of the Aventador S unveiled in 2018. It can also be considered as an improved Aventador SV. The engine in the SVJ can produce as much as 759 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and sprint front zero to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds.

Aventador SVJ LP770-4 Roadster (2019-present): coming with the same powertrain as the coupe model, Lamborghini has announced that they will only produce 800 units of the Aventador SJV Roadster.

Besides the mentioned variants, Lamborghini has produced a variety of special editions of the Aventador. The first and the most well-known of which is the Aventador J, which was revealed a year after the Aventador's debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. Similar to a Roadster, the Aventador J featured a roofless design. Unlike your typical Roadster car, the Aventador J had no proper windshield. However, despite its crazy look, the Aventador J was surprisingly road-legal.

From the other special editions of the Aventador, we could mention the LP720-4 50th Anniversary edition, which was produced in 2013, the Pirelli Edition, which marked a 50-year association between Lamborghini and Pirelli in 2014, and the Aventador Miura Hommage, which celebrated the 50th birthday of the original Lamborghini Miura.

It Takes Time To Become Timeless

Perhaps Lamborghini's claim for producing 'timeless' supercars has truth in it. Rarely can anyone find a car enthusiast who does not appreciate the sheer craftsmanship in developing a Lamborghini supercar.

The Aventador has played its role as the last bearer of Lamborghini's naturally-aspirated V12 lineup as great as possible. Through different models, such as the SV, the S, the SVJ, all the Roadster models, and the Special Editions, the Aventador managed to stay as one of the most iconic supercars of the early 21st century.
